MOVIE: Dog Man (2025)

Dog ManYear: 2025Rating: PGLength: 89 minutes / 1.48 hours While I’m no stranger to movies based on kids’ media, Dog Man (2025) was definitely not designed with adults in mind. Sure, there were a few jokes here and there that the adults would chuckle at, but the mind-numbing, blistering pace at which things happened and changed in this movie was honestly surprising. I get that kids’ attention spans are shrinking at an alarming rate, but when it’s up there flashing on the big screen, it’s hard not to notice. At the very least, I think my kids had fun, even if they were mostly indifferent about it. Despite what the intro to this review makes it sound like, I appreciated the Dog Man movie sticking to the aesthetic from the books. It still had that “high definition” veneer on everything, but the feel was very hand-drawn (similar to how The Peanuts Movie (2015) did it). And by sticking to somewhat lesser-known voice...

VIDEO GAME: Umamusume – Pretty Derby (2025)

Umamusume: Pretty DerbyYear: 2025Rating: TTime Played: ~36 hours I was first introduced to Umamusume a few months ago when I saw a random Reddit post about an anime girl running on a track like a racehorse. When I looked into it a little more, I found there was a whole anime and mobile game called Umamusume: Pretty Derby that basically boils down to famous Japanese racehorses re-imagined as pop-idol anime girls racing to be the best. Of course, I had to try it out. While it’s a pretty standard gatcha game containing tons of characters with lots of personality, Umamusume doesn’t have much going on for a free-to-play player. Just like other gatcha games, Umamusume allows you to pull for characters and cards, which are used to give these horse girls abilities to help them race better. The real issue is that there seems to be one card that’s overpowered, which makes doing a career run fairly easy. Sure, I still had...

MUSIC: Justice – North American Tour 2025

Justice: North American Tour 2025 Date: May 25, 2025 Location: Red Rocks Ampitheater If I were to rack and stack the current listing of my favorite bands, Justice would definitely be in my top 3. Since their debut album, I have enjoyed their style of electronic music and look forward to every new album they release. I had their most recent work, Hyperdrama, on repeat for several weeks once it came out last year. I stumbled onto the fact that they were touring this year and would be at Red Rocks Ampitheater. Not only were they one of my favorite bands, but they were playing at my favorite venue! Despite the drizzling rain throughout the concert, I truly enjoyed the show that Justice put on. Fcukers, the opening act, had an interesting set. I was actually more impressed at how recently they had formed and they were already touring with Justice. Either way, their vibe was similar enough to the main act that I...
